The best car games to keep the little ones entertained!
Is there anything more as a parent you dread to hear more than those four words… ‘Are we there yet?’
Summer holidays, weekend visits, and long drives are a part of our life, and combating the boredom of the little ones is half the battle.
Even on short trips, kids can get impatient in the car, making it difficult to travel with them. Therefore, keeping the kids amused can make the trip seem much shorter and more fun (or perhaps tolerable). Here are five family-friendly games to keep kids entertained:
1. 20 Questions
The first player selects a person, place or thing, the other players take turns to guess what that thing is. The catch is you only have 20 questions each! if you would like to make it harder, only use yes or no questions!
2. Would you rather?
Take turns in asking would you rather questions. For example, a common question is ‘would you rather have legs for fingers or fingers for legs?’
3. I-Spy
If you don’t know what I-Spy is, how did you pass your driving test? Just kidding, but a classic is a classic for a reason. For those who don’t know, choose an object you can see, and players take turns to guess!
4. I went on holiday and packed…
This is a memory game which is challenging for all the family, young and old. Each player must repeat the sentence and add on an item - you’re OUT if you forget. Player one might say ‘I went on holiday and packed a suitcase’ then player two would have to say, ‘I went on holiday and packed a suitcase and a book’ and so on.
5.Categories
The first player must name a category, and then name something that belongs in the category. For example, if the category is car manufacturers, the player may name Renault, Rolls-Royce, Vauxhall etc. Each player must name something new and if you can't, you're out of the game!
Failing that, you could always call by a McDonald's drive-through…
