PDA Award For Flexxilease

ccl_pda_in_use_1.jpgPOSTED 01/12/07.  A PDA based system for managing over 4000 vehicle deliveries and collections every month from centres across the UK for the Dorset based Car Crash Line Group & Flexxilease has won the Best Use Of Data in the Automotive category Award at the Data Strategy Awards....

Steve Bockett from Car Crash Line Group and representatives from Borehamwood based developers TAP Software, received the award at the prestigious ceremony held the London Hilton Hotel. The system was introduced earlier this year which allows Car Crash Line Group's Verwood based administration centre to transmit information to is branches to ensure a fast reaction car replacement service to motorists involved in non fault accidents on behalf of major insurance groups.

Steve Bockett, Project Implementation Manager at Car Crash Line Group says that the moment a request for the supply of a vehicle is made by an insurer, the administration team issues the job details digitally to the appropriate branch manager. The manager can then send the information to an available transporter driver. This includes details including the name, address and the replacement car assigned from the groups 8,000 fleet. When the delivery takes place, the motorist signs on the PDA's screen and can request a paper copy to be automatically sent by post if required. Once delivery is completed, the branch manager and the admin centre receive a confirmation. This is then confirmed to the client and the insurer.

The touch screen based system ensures that time spent on data input by the PDA user is minimal and also has far further benefits in promoting paper-less environmentally friendly communication. "Our fleet managers are also updated within seconds of either a delivery or collection, which gives them full control over the allocation of vehicles and ensure that demand can be met during peeks of demand," says Steve Bockett. "Even if the transporter driver cannot transmit the update immediately due to the rare occasion when there is a limited GPRS service, everyone gets updated much faster than the lengthy paper based system."
